Serving Tampa

Custom suits in Tampa, without leaving your office.

Arbiter's bench serves the whole bay, but Tampa is home ground. Most weeks the tape is out somewhere between the downtown towers and Westshore before the first court call of the morning.

Tampa

A suit city that pretends it isn't

Tampa dresses more formally than the rest of Florida admits. The Hillsborough County courthouse and the federal courthouse on Florida Avenue keep hundreds of trial lawyers in suits four days a week; the banks and wealth managers around Water Street and the insurance and finance floors of Westshore add hundreds more. And every one of them is fighting the same two blocks of August sidewalk between the parking garage and the lobby.

That walk is the design constraint for every suit cut here: high-twist worsteds and hopsacks around 250 grams that shrug off the humidity between the Poe garage and the courtroom, and still look pressed at a 6 p.m. closing dinner at Bern's or a client evening at the Oxford Exchange.

Where the appointments happen

Downtown and Water Street: conference-room appointments before 8 a.m. or over lunch, timed so a first fitting fits inside a court recess. Westshore: office visits work best at the day's edges, before the Kennedy and I-275 interchange locks up. Home appointments run evenings across South Tampa — Hyde Park, Davis Islands, Beach Park, Palma Ceia — and club appointments at the Tampa Club or Palma Ceia Golf & Country Club are a standing habit for several clients.

There is no travel charge anywhere in Tampa, and early mornings are the norm here, not the favor.

Weddings

Marrying in Tampa

Tampa's wedding venues photograph dark and warm — the brick and steel of Armature Works, the library shelves of the Oxford Exchange, the river light at the Tampa River Center. Cloth is chosen against the room: a mid-blue fresco holds its color under Armature Works' string lights where a dark navy goes black, and an outdoor Curtis Hixon ceremony in the warm months is linen territory. Grooms and groomsmen are measured together in one sitting, usually at someone's office or the groom's home.
